The Congo Rainforest stretches across six countries: Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Its the second largest rain forest in the world, covering just about 178 millions hectors of land. One of its major landmarks is the Congo River which runs straight through the rainforest. Its about 1.4 millions square miles and is the second largest river in the world by volume.

Some of its major cities are Kinshasa with a population of 10.12 million, Kanaga with a population of 1.1 million and Bukavu with a population of 810,000. While in the Congo you can hike up inactive volcanoes, canoes down the Congo River and take nature walks through the rainforest,
There are many different attractions with the Congo Rainforest and surrounding it: Inga Falls- Its a rapid where the Congo Rivewdrops 96 meters over the course of 16 kilometers. Its arguably one of the largest waterfall in the world, at median discharge of 42,476 m³/s. Mount Nyiragongo- It is an active stratovolcano with an elevation of 3,470 meters. Nyiragongo's lava lake has been the most voluminous known lava lake in recent history. Ngovo cave- Its a cave that is only accessible in the wet season. It runs several kilometers and has never really been explored. It emerges by the Zongo Falls. Mount Nyamuragira - an active volcano in the Virugan Mountain situated about 25 km north of Lake Kivu. Its one of Africa's most active volcanoes and has erupted over 40 times since 1885. |
